I was reminded of Acey and xboy's version of Silver Surfer for the Infinity Mugen Team.I did like this version. Fortunately there are 3 great versions. Each different. Each fun to use. This one is one of the best versions. I have a list in a previous post listing all the versions I know about and this one is one of my top three. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to get really good with playing with this one, but like all the characters Acey and xboy have played a part in creating, this one is special. Grudge Match: John Stewart vs Silver Surfer

Could John Stewart beat Silver Surfer? I think it would be possible. John Stewart can make and do just about whatever he can imagine. Thing is the same is true for the Silver Surfer. I think Stewart could pull this off if he hits the Surfer fast and hard enough. This is the version of John Stewart released through CVG United. The Silver Surfer was made be by WuCash and Isela. I like this fight.

Grudge Match: Silver Surfer vs Superman

Now this would be an epic battle - Superman vs the Silver Surfer. It would be of galactic proportions!  How would Superman stand against the power cosmic? I mean the Surfer can do almost anything. I think it would be close, but eventually I think the Surfer would outlast Superman if Superman did not find a way to end it.

I'm excited about this release because the Hulk appears bigger and much less hunched over!

Mugen: Silver Surfer (Update)

Team Omega Pwnage Supreme has released a new version of the Silver Surfer (2.0). I took some time and put the character through it's paces. I had a lot of fun. They added a new mode that allows you to control "Cosmic" Carnage. This version may surprise you. I realize that the previous version I found called "Symbiote Surfer" probably just an edit, but this "Cosmic Carnage" mode that Team Omega Pwnage Supreme has cooked up is simply in league all of it's own. It's actually something similar that happened in the comic books, except the Carnage symbiote nearly possessed the Surfer. Check out Amazing Spider-Man vol I #430-431 (January, 1998-February, 1998). I actually own those issues. And there was a What If? story that I don't own where it gives the scenario that the Carnage Symbiote was not removed from the Surfer found in What If? vol II #108. Here is a table comparing the this new Silver Surfer to the latest versions from Scruffy Dragon and Infinity Mugen Team. This set of test will be similar to the tests ran last time, except it will be ran once with Team Omega Pwnage Supreme's (TOPS) version in normal mode and then in Carnage mode. This post is being done because Team Omega Pwnage Supreme has released their second version of Silver Surfer. It is awesome. Actually "awesome" really isn't the word. It feels more responsive to me and even more fun to play than their first full version. All the sprites look like they have been cleaned up. (He does look more shiny as promised.) I have to admit that at first I had some problems figuring out how to activate Cosmic Carnage mode but once you get it, it's fun. It's kind of hard to pick which mode is the most fun. My favorite Carnage move is finishing an opponent with the black hole move because it sucks the other character into a black whole and the character is just plain gone! They did a wonderful job. This is going to be one character I will be going back to constantly. There are a few notes you should be aware of: you can't download him from the Team Omega Pwnage Supreme webstite because of it's size, just follow the YouTube link in the table above. Have fun playing with the Silver Surfer, I sure did!

Mugen: Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer is one of those characters where you might be tempted to laugh when you hear the name. I mean a superhero riding a surf board? On top of that, riding a surf board through space?! But that was before I learned more about who the Silver Surfer is. He is noble, compassionate, and extremely powerful. He wields the Power of Cosmic. I found this on the Marvel website. I'm pasting it here because Surfer's powers are so varied I want to cover them all.

Powers
The Silver Surfer wields "the power cosmic", absorbing and manipulating the universe's ambient cosmic energies. He can augment his strength to incalculable levels, and is almost totally indestructible. He can navigate space, hyperspace and dimensional barriers, and can fly at near-limitless speeds on his board, entering hyperspace when he exceeds light speed. He has even proven capable of time travel on occasion. The Surfer does not require food, drink, air or sleep, sustained entirely by converting matter into energy. He is immune to temperature extremes and most radiation, and can survive in vacuum environments such as outer space and hyperspace. He can analyze and manipulate matter and energy, and restructure or animate matter at will, even transmuting elements. He can heal living beings (though he cannot raise the dead), and has proven capable of revitalizing or evolving organic life on a planet wide scale. He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, fire energy blasts, form and manipulate energy constructs, manipulate gravity, absorb and discharge most forms of energy, and phase through solid matter. His senses enable him to detect objects and energies light years away, and to perceive matter and energy in subatomic detail; he can even see through time, and with concentration can achieve limited perception of past and future events in his general vicinity. The Surfer has demonstrated limited telepathic ability on occasion, and has proven able to influence human emotion and sensation.

Paraphernalia
The Surfer's board is composed of the same impervious, cosmic-powered silvery material as its master's skin, and is mentally linked to the Surfer; it moves in response to his thoughts, even when he is not in physical contact with it. The board is almost totally indestructible, but on those rare occasions where it has been damaged or destroyed, the Surfer has been able to repair or even re-create it. The Surfer can attack opponents remotely by directing the board against them, and the board is capable of absorbing and imprisoning other beings, at least temporarily.

As you can see, his abilities make him very formidable. The basic goal in mugen is to put the player in Surfer's shoes. I'm planning to use this as criteria to see how to measure the versions of Silver Surfer for mugen. I have found 4 versions of Silver Surfer for mugen.

The Infinity Mugen Team, Scruffy Dragon, and Team Omega Pwnage Supreme versions of Silver Surfer are all awesome and much better than the Symbiote version. Therefore, let's concentrate on the three best versions. The Infinity Mugen Team and Team Omega Pwnage Supreme versions are similar to each other because you can fight while riding your board or without it. Both let you call it or dismiss it. The Scruffy Dragon version is always riding the board unless you do the special move that sends the board to ram your opponent. I like these three versions very much. None of them are exactly the same in special moves, intros, outros, voices, or animations. I think that most folk would want to play with all three from time-to-time. I found that the Scruffy Dragon version is a little easiergot me to use, but it'll take me some practive to be good at using all three. All three teams did excellent work on the Silver Surfer!
